  • Ylva and Tarot

ylvajuly.jpgProud with a glimpse in my eye over that one of Sweden’s biggest daily news (www.expressen.se) gave me the title “The Swedish Tarot queen” on July 03.
Here is my background as a fortune-teller, or I instead call myself - Tarot expert.

    My Tarot career
My first meeting with Tarot cards was in 1974 in Nottingham, UK. My friends had Tarot decks; curious as I am, I had to pull some cards to see what it was all about. They told me the interpretation; I was impressed by how well it told what was in my life; it also made me more curious. I came home to Sweden again, back to the usual playing cards, and then I realized that it was Tarot from now on.

    My first deck
I was a Rider-Waite; I still got it. It has once been sold, funny story. I had a crystal shop, one of the girls that worked there sold it to a customer that desperately needed a Rider-Waite deck. It was sold out; she did her best and sold mine, cheaper cause it was used. I got sad, but everything has a reason. Some years later, I had a Tarot workshop; one of the participants had some problems; her deck didn’t work. She asked if it could maybe have something to do that was used and bought second-hand at my shop. And of course, it was my deck, so we switched; I was happy, and she too.

    Back in 1974…
As people usually did,   I aid some cards, read from the booklet that followed the deck, and had no conception or basic about Tarot. (so many years ago…) I did lay some spreads but wasn’t very good at understanding the interpretation. I did practice reading directly from the booklet (and unfortunately, many people still do that, it takes time and doesn’t say as much as if you learn the basics).

The years went by, many things in new age followed me, then I got my kids, and my life began. Now I had time left over to do the things that I had in interest, thanks to their dad that supported me in being a housewife. I followed a friend to a shaman and started to realize the wholeness of life, the elements, and the wheel of life. When I was “playing” with my cards, I suddenly understood the connection between Tarot and the elements (fire, water, earth, air, and ether).

Tarot got a whole new meaning for me; my readings went more profound, more insights; I then understood the cards to work, finance, love, and health around the soul. After that, numerology came into my life, like a surprise, shocked over how well it could tell about the moves and patterns we are into. I thought that the person that did my numerological reading knew me better than I did myself. And then, I started to learn more about numbers and their energies to Tarot. That was one more breakthrough about the truth of Tarot. Astrology was already a big part of my knowledge; I had already understood how it was connected to Tarot. All I now had to do was to develop more about it altogether. Today I have written about 6000 pages about Tarot, not only with numerology and astrology but also with stones and gems and totems and colors.

Tarot is superior to all other methods of reading energies; it has it all and fits into all religions, all cultures, past time as the future, and of course, the present time.

    At the end of 1990
Tarot became the full-time of my life; I started to make notes about the cards. In 1992 I moved to another city; I opened my shop, “Crystal Wolf” (Ylva means wolfiness in Latin). Many people came to the shop asking for Tarot courses; I didn’t know about any, and to have them myself, no way.
The customers said – Please, write down my name and phone number if you decide to have some course in the future. I decided to hold my first course in Tarot; it went on, one more, one more. In the beginning, my courses were one day a week for seven weeks; in one city, I used to hold courses is also the city where I have my record in readings, 92 people in an endless 14 hours.

200 Swedish kronor (about 15 pounds or 20 dollars) was the first sum I took for my readings; then I realized that to also afford the taxes and all expenses, I had to take 300 Swedish kronor. In 1993 my first book came out, “Tarot step by step,” I visited radio and television as the first writer of a book about Tarot in Swedish.

In 1995, I and some friends got together and decided to start an association for Tarot (The Swedish Tarot association). Our goal was to have an organization to find the honest, professional Tarot readers authorized after some test. It was an excellent, funny time, to begin with, we had the meetings in Umeå (north of Sweden)  it was big-time at the event (in Sweden in a small town) we had 44 people in one evening.  We made announcements in papers and by commercial and had over 200 members around Sweden. Then (of course) someone thought he was the answer for the association, living in Stockholm (the capital of Sweden), I didn’t like to take a fight. I had put so much time and money and was tired of all responsibility. But of course, it also leads to a lot of bullshit; unsure people have that pattern, he called me a charlatan, but I just smiled and thought about the thing reflecting another person. I was the chairman of the association, the driving force with some other real enthusiasts. Some of them tried to continue after I left, but the association didn’t exist anymore after some months.

The criteria for readers were, too, on the other side of getting approved in the test, without alcohol and drugs (in readings), not telling about death, and having professional secrecy. I think we had about 20 authorized readers. The meaning was to give people a choice, like when you choose in another field, everyone knows that if someone is authorized, they at least had made an effort and were proven to stand up for the standards. And now, I certify instead all the readers that make my test after doing a course and follow the standards. I’m proud to say that they are the best, taking the reading seriously. Sadly, I only got certified Swedish since I haven’t had courses in English before, but I hope that will change.

In 2002, I got the insight that I’m good at what I do, a real Tarot expert. I was the first (what I know of) Swedish writer to write a book in Swedish (not translated), today with 26 books, and 16 of them are about Tarot, a big (huge) distance workshop. All the material of Tarot for students, MP3 files, three decks, a lot of workshops, lectures every year, and on top of that, readings.

That makes me a Tarot expert. No one in Scandinavia has written as much as me on the subject of Tarot. Is it anyone in the whole world that has performed more than me on the subject of Tarot?

In the years, I have created 26 books, and 16 about Tarot the Tarot deck “Crystal Wolf” with a booklet and “Erotica Tarot” with a book,  Prisma Tarot (that you find in the menu), and it doesn’t stop here. I keep on writing. In 2004, I promised to stop with Tarot and devote my time to another project; it put me and my finance under the ground. I had a rough period in my life, but with a lot of experience, it all ended up with me looking at the cards again.  I was back, better than ever. Now, 2021 is also in English. My development with the Tarot continues.

I’m not the reader who does Tarot to make usual readings about life and love; I’m the one who uses Tarot with higher wisdom to create our life with our thoughts. But sometimes, they are just too mixed up to make us see clearly. But of course, real-life and weekdays, with health, work, finance, love, and spiritual growing, is a big part of that.

Looking forward to being in contact with you

  • Thoughts about Tarot

It can be overwhelming to choose your very first Tarot deck, there are many to choose from, but you will quickly be able to determine which decks appeal to you. Some are popular, and you may be tempted to select one of them but then again, why should you be like everyone else? What is important is that you choose a deck where the symbolism touches something in you and speaks to you. Then it will be a joy for you to work with it, and it is easier for you to find the symbolism and deeper meanings within it. It can also be an advantage to have different decks. It can be nice to have an extra deck of cards in certain moods than the usual one.

Some people will only use the part of the Tarot called the Major Arcana. That is entirely up to them.  Everything you do with your Tarot deck is between you and your deck. Don´t bother listening so much to other people. There are far too many restrictions and rules being pushed on us as it is. Also, do not believe that you have to be psychic to use the Tarot. Anyone can learn given time and patience. Believe in yourself. Millions of people have learned to use Tarot. Why should it be any more complicated for you?

As you learn each card, you may also find it most advantageous to learn their reverse meanings (reverse aspects). Not every tarot reading is entirely 100 % positive, but it’s good to explain even the lesser positive aspects of reading. It´s up to you if you choose to turn some cards “upside-down” when you shuffle your deck. Even if you do not reverse any cards, you will come to realize during a tarot reading if a card is favorable or not.

When you do your tarot spreads, place your cards out on a silk cloth (or cloth of natural fiber). Lay each card out individually. Read each card one by one and then look at the spread as a whole. It´s a bit like solving a puzzle. The spread is usually called “a star.”

After giving a tarot reading to someone else, always sort your Tarot cards back in numerical order. The Minor Arcana in its suites from 1 to 14 and the Major Arcana from 0 – 21. In their correct numerical order, the Tarot is like a book. You usually don’t leave a text open in the last chapter you read when you put a text away.

Always have a pen and paper handy for taking notes so that you can easily remember better what cards come up and what positions.

Begin by simply drawing one card.

A card to see what is happening currently
A card to see an answer to a specific question. For example: How is my work situation?
    A card for love
    A card for your economy
    A card for your health

It can be difficult in the beginning to decipher each card in each position until you let loose your thoughts and imagination. Keep at it. Take Baby steps at first, and keep in mind that the aspects of some cards can appear overly harsh. The suit of Swords, for example, can seem frightening to some people. Think back to the question you asked for the answer. What time aspect did you put on your question? Did you ask the question for the next hour, a day, a week?  Shorter periods make the aspect less imposing. Draw an additional card to see what you can do about the negative aspect you drew.

I believe that there is a perfectly reasonable meaning to get in touch with the cards. It allows us an easy form of communication whereby we can control our actions and thereby control our lives.  However, we cannot always control things that happen in the environment.

Do not draw cards for someone who is not present and has not asked you to do so. I doubt if you want anyone else to draw cards to see what you are up for.  If you tend to be jealous and want to monitor your partner, think what would happen if you read the cards wrong or your energy influences the spread outcome. Instead, draw a card to determine why you lose your self-control and feel the need to check up on someone. Then, find the remedy to cure your jealousy. That will make you much more content and happier person.

  • The origin of the Tarot is still unclear, and no one knows for sure from where Tarot cards originated. I don’t think it matters. It works.

Whatever its era, religion, culture, or political stance, every card has a clear symbolic value that fits into our lives at every opportunity, and you will always find a card that suits you best. There is a card for every event, and there is an event for every card. You can also delve deeper into the Tarot and find a card from each suit representing and expressing the element and soul of Major Arcana.

It is not sure that we must experience the events and lessons in every single tarot card in this lifetime. Each of us was born with some different primary energies, based on what we had learned in past lives, and it is from there, we continue our current lives. To this end, the Tarot cards are a tremendous help when we search for our soul's intention and our yearly lessons, as well as the reasons for our personality in this lifetime. These things did not happen by coincidence. They are predetermined.

Tarot cards have been used since ancient times to predict the future. They can also look back in time or look at present situations and focus on personal development or meditate. I hope you will see your opportunities in the Tarot, see your own life, and choose to take control of your life without being caught up in petty details.

Tarot cards are available in many different versions; I've heard thousands of different Tarot decks. However, most of them are similar. The foundation is the same regardless of the artist who designed it. That is what separates them - the artist. My books are written to suit any tarot deck that you care to buy or work.

The most popular tarot decks are:
It is a perfect, clear, and symbolic tarot deck and one of the most popular. It is available in different sizes and different color schemes. One of the decks I use most often because it has a suitable structure and a precise symbolism of events and situations in all 78 cards.

    Hanson Roberts
A colorful and romantic deck with a precise symbolism of all 78 cards. Reminiscent of the Rider-Waite, but somewhat softer in its symbolism.

Created by Aleister Crowley and Frida Harris.
A deck with some very potent symbolism, used by a lot of people for meditations. It shows no specific events or situations in the Minor Arcana cards (1 – 10), only emblems depicting the card number and the suite, but each card has a name that gives a clue to their aspect (meaning).

An intensely colorful deck created by Eileen Connoly, one of America's premier Tarot Interpreters. It is reminiscent of Rider-Waite, but it has an "old-fashioned crinoline” composition. It shows symbolic events/ situations on all cards.

  • Course - Tarot, card by card

Tarot, card by card, will get you to know the basics about Tarot, even if you're already a Tarot reader. However, you can also get some unique insight from the way I see Tarot and that the system behind that is a more logical one.

With these lessons, you can learn card by card to develop your knowledge of Tarot. For each card, you will find a simple description, common facts in a way I like to encourage you to understand the basics of each card. Then you have the keywords; you will manage fine to build your words and description on each card. From that, you create a contact with your subconsciousness that strengthens your knowledge of each card. It will be more personally related. Maybe different but more inspiring way for you to develop more about your understanding of the Tarot and your patterns. It doesn't have any difference if you're a beginner, maybe never held a Tarot deck in your hands, or if you have read Tarot cards for years.

If you're a beginner, it will be a way to create knowledge and understanding of each card and make it easier to get started.

If you have interpreted Tarot before, this can be a fresh challenge to start from zero, with each card to create from your inner images.

    You will find questions for each card like;

    The experience of the card?

Please write down your image of the experience you have, like, for example, I have breathing problems on 3 of Swords, it's not the only conflict, but still, it's a conflict not being able to breathe. Swords are the suit of Air, and if you don't use the Air correctly. Then maybe, you will have problems with your breathing, like keeping your breath. Or, in a conflict, you can feel like you're not getting any air.

    At last, you have Reflections:
Questions that I have created for each card ask the questions to find your answers, and you will learn more. There is no coincidence of the questions. They are designed to make you think more about the energy of the card.

You find videos with me explaining each lesson, going through the cards, then you anser the questions and find the answers online. We will have a Zoom meeting to begin with, you and me.

The course starts when you order, you get access to the course "right away."

You pay 30 euro for each participant you have for each book profile. In it, your course participants get access to the book profile "Tarot, the cards on the table." In the introductory course Tarot, card by card, and The Element Star. Your course participants get their profiles connected to you.

NOTE! You must also be prepared that I, for your sake, may have views to guide you, not to criticize, i.e., constructive criticism. But I am also open to it myself, I do not have all the answers, but I have a considerable knowledge base in spirituality. However, I have no intention of "handing you out" to the group unless you choose to have a "discussion."
